Ports on the Nevis Mail Server

Mail Protocol	Server name	Thunderbird	Apple Mail	Outlook
IMAP	mail.nevis.columbia.edu or imap.nevis.columbia.edu	993 with SSL/TLS	993 with SSL	993, use SSL
SMTP	mail.nevis.columbia.edu or smtp.nevis.columbia.edu	465 with SSL/TLS	465 with TLS/SSL	587, use SSL
POP3	mail.nevis.columbia.edu or pop3.nevis.columbia.edu	995 with SSL/TLS	995 with SSL	995, use SSL

The reason to use ports 587 (or 465 for SMTPS) is that many sites have set up firewalls that block off port 25.
