Getting a ride on the Nevis Van

The Nevis van schedule is handled through a Google calendar system.

  • If you want to be a driver or a regular passenger on the Nevis van, contact the calendar manager. He'll give you permissions to make changes to the Nevis calendar.
    • You will receive an invitation to the van calendar. Accept it. Then you'll be able to make changes to it.
    • If you have an existing Google account, it will probably be easiest if you tell the calendar manager to sign you up using that account.
    • If you are a driver, you must check that Google account regularly for e-mail.

  • After I've added your account to the calendar:
    • log-in to Google with that account;
    • click on the button on the bottom right-hand corner of the calendar image below; it looks like "+ Google calendar". This will add the Nevis van calendar to your account.

  • If you are a driver, make an entry in the calendar for the days you'll be driving, and which van you plan to drive.

  • If you are a passenger, edit the calendar entry to include your name as an "event guest." If someone is coming with you, add "+N" where N is the number of people coming with you.

  • If you're making a one-time trip on the Nevis van, send an e-mail to the driver for that day so they know you're coming.
    • Be sure to send the e-mail at least 24 hours before the van trip. Don't count on the driver to receive any e-mail notifications or to check their e-mail continuously. They're physicists, not bus drivers.

For your convenience, here's a read-only version of the calendar:
