NSF Scientific Research Ethics Training

Here are the steps needed to complete this training course. Allow at least one hour to complete the course. Note: The exact procedure changes from year to year, but the basics still apply: register; take the RCR course; send us the completion report.

  • Click LOGIN

  • On the left-hand side, centered under the logo: Log in through my Organization

  • In the "Select Your Organization Affiliation" field, start typing "Columbia University". You'll be able to select "Columbia University (SSO)" after just a few characters. Click on the button "Continue to SSO Login".

  • Enter your Columbia UNI. This will require DUO.

  • You may need to create a profile for your CitiProgram Columbia courses, including phone number and contact information.

  • Select "Student Researcher" or some version of that.

  • Once you have completed that you can search "Available Courses" for TC0094 Responsible Conduct of Research.

  • Start course.

  • Go through each topic in turn.
    • The videos go over the same material as the text. There's no real need to watch them.
    • At the end of each page, take the quiz (if there is one)

  • At the end of the last topic, you will have the option to print a PDF certificate that confirms that you completed the course.
