The Nevis mailing lists only accept messages from specific e-mail addresses. When I add you to a list, I probably use your nevis.columbia.edu e-mail address unless you tell me otherwise. If you send a message from (for example) an fnal.gov address, the mailing-list software doesn't recognize it and discards the message.

I sent a message to one of the lists, and I may have misspelled the name of the list. Why didn't I receive a warning?
