Nevis Linux Cluster Services

This is the list of which machines provide the different network services on the cluster. If some terms are unfamiliar, you can try looking at the glossary.

Note: The name hamilton refers the IP address maintained by high-availability administrative cluster. If a service is provided by hamilton, then it's actually provided by hypatia with orestes acting as a backup.

NIS servers

• Master NIS server: hypatia
• Slave NIS servers: orestes, hermes

Mail server

• Main mail server: franklin
• Backup mail spooler: annex

DNS servers

• Primary DNS server for the nevis.columbia.edu domain: hermes
• Secondary DNS servers: hypatia, intl-ns1.columbia.edu

• Applications server: hamilton (library)
• Archive file server: archive (shang)
• Condor central manager: hermes
• DHCP server: dhcp
• Backup server: shelley
• Log server: hermes, aliased to log (lincoln)
• NTP (time) servers: hypatia, orestes, shelley
